Kool Smiles Reviews Regular Dental Visits

Regular dentist visits and tooth cleanings let dentists check often for any problems and clean off tartar buildup that can’t be cleaned with regular brushing and flossing. It’s important to have the friendly dentists at Kool Smiles review your child’s dental health to make sure that your child has a healthy set of chompers for a long time to come.

Why It’s Important to See a Dentist Regularly

Regular visits to the dentist help ensure that your children have healthy teeth and gums. You should begin bringing your child to the dentist as soon as they turn one-year-old or have their first tooth come in, and then at least twice a year for visits. Normal visits typically include three parts to each visit:

  • Teeth cleaning- Your child’s teeth will be cleaned and all plaque and tartar will be removed. After some brushing, polishing and flossing, your child’s teeth will be nice and clean
  • X-rays- X-rays may be taken so that the dentist can have a better look at your child’s teeth and see parts of your child’s mouth that they might not be able to see otherwise during the inspection. They can help show hidden problems like tooth decay between teeth
  • Dentist Inspection- One of our friendly dentists will inspect your child for any signs of disease, cavities or other problems.

After the cleaning and the X-rays, our Kool Smiles dentist will review if they find anything with you, discuss treatment options and help answer any questions you or your child may have. If the dentist does find a problem in your child’s teeth, they will try and take care of it that day so that you and your child won’t have to be back for at least another six months for their regular checkup. Of course, we’ll always get your permission before we go forward with any treatments or procedures on your child.

Taking your children to see the dentist regularly is just as important as bringing them to see a medical doctor for a checkup. Both are important to make sure that your children are on the right track to healthy development.
