Treats for Troops: A Look Back At Our Third Annual ‘Operation Troop Treats’ Candy Exchange

This Halloween, 124 Kool Smiles offices across the country participated in our Third Annual Operation Troop Treats, a program designed to give kids’ teeth a post-Halloween break and U.S. troops overseas a sweet reminder of home.

Kool Smiles’ Operation Troop Treats program encouraged children to bring their Halloween candy in to their local dental office in exchange for a toy. The candy collected is being shipped in care packages to U.S. troops serving overseas via Operation Gratitude.

The third year of the Operation Troop Treats was a great success! Children and families across the country donated a total of 4,372 pounds of candy to support Operation Gratitude.

While all of our offices did a great job collecting candy, three went above and beyond:

  1. Buford, Georgia office: 350 pounds
  2. Waterbury Connecticut office: 337 pounds
  3. Monroe, Louisiana office: 206 pounds

In addition to the exchange program, Kool Smiles donated 100 dental care packages for troops, as well as the funds to cover the assembly and shipment of 200 additional care packages.
